Transforming Infantry Instructor Training in Belgium
Advanced Forces Group (AFG) helped Belgium’s Competency Centre Land modernize instructor training at Arlon Infantry School to boost frontline readiness under its Advise, Assist, Train, and Mentor (AAT&M) framework.
Belgium’s Competency Centre Land and Arlon Infantry School
Competency Centre Land (CC Land) prepares Belgian land forces for current and future operations. Arlon Infantry School trains junior infantry soldiers who, for many, receive their only formal training before deployment.
Modernizing an Industrial Age Training Model
The Belgian Army must move from an industrial age training model to 21st Century Learning, changing how soldiers are selected, trained, and evaluated. Yet the formal school system still reinforces the old model while operational demands grow.
AFG’s Solution
Under the Preparatory Instructor Training initiative, AFG worked alongside CC Land’s lead instructor to mentor Arlon Infantry School staff and relieve structural pressure on the training system. AFG adapts to client culture, operates as a silent partner within existing chains of command, and deploys internationally diverse instructors backed by a global expert network. Through a scalable Training Centre concept, AFG bridges infrastructure and personnel gaps, rapidly increases instructor capacity, adapts to curriculum changes, and provides training areas and life support so students simply arrive with uniforms and weapons—enabling higher throughput without sacrificing training quality or safety.

They also share their routines and experience with our instructors, ensuring continuous development and mutual learning.
